I have been granted the opportunity by another surviror to participate in a True North Treks program this October in Utah. This canoeing and backpacking trek is designed to help young adult cancer survivors find direction through connection—with nature, with peers, and with themselves.

As I approach the one-year anniversary of my transplant, I am ready to find my own direction. After three years of health challenges, I have been given the gift of life twice: first by my daughter, and then by my donor. This trek offers a much-needed break from that reality and a chance to connect with other survivors who understand this journey.

I am looking forward to this experience and the opportunity to reconnect with myself and others.
