I was diagnosed with breast cancer during a season of life that was supposed to be full of growth and milestones. Instead, it became a time of surviving, adapting, and finding strength I didn’t know I had.

Over the past couple years, I’ve gone through chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, will be on oral medications for a few years more. Through it all, I’ve stayed focused on doing whatever I could to keep myself healthy and strong.

I’m grateful to say I’m one-year cancer free and I’m doing well!

Cancer changed my perspective, but it didn’t stop me. I’m still moving forward—raising my kids, enjoying my hobbies, and working toward my master’s degree to become a midwife. I’m doing my best to continue living life to the fullest.

I’ve been given the opportunity to go backpacking through Yellowstone National Park with True North Treks, an organization that supports young adults affected by cancer.

The trip is provided at no cost to participants like me. In return, we’re asked to “pay it forward” by fundraising to help make these experiences possible for future survivors.
