When I was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal B-Cell Lymphoma at the age of 21, I felt like I was being robbed of so many opportunities. Everyone around me was graduating college, getting jobs, and traveling the world while I needed a doctor's clearance and several blood tests just to go to the grocery store. At the time, I had no idea how many opportunities my cancer diagnosis would provide me with if I was willing to seek them out.
True North Treks is an incredible organization. I sought out their winter trek because it sounded like a rare opportunity to explore a part of the country I'd never visited. I appreciated that TNT's programming is focused around connecting to community, connecting to nature, and connecting to oneself. The daily mindfulness and yoga made it so easy to focus on the serenity of our surroundings and the reasons why we all decided to do this trek in the first place.
Over the course of 4 magical days, we laughed, sweated, sang, cried, breathed, snowshoed, explored, and even got a surprise appearance from the northern lights on our last night. It was a magical week that none of us will soon forget. I'm so grateful to TNT's staff, particularly our guides David, Vanessa, and Kile, for putting so much care into every facet of this experience. I'm also grateful to all the past participants and donors who have helped supply the funds to make this trek possible. I hope you will support me in continuing that mission.
