Help Me Pay It Forward for Young Adult Cancer Survivors

Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a retreat with True North Treks – a nonprofit that provides experiences for young adult cancer survivors to connect with others who have hiked a similar path. Harnessing the healing power of nature, True North Treks helps survivors forge new pathways beyond their disease. The retreat was completely free for me, thanks to the generosity of donors who believe in their mission.

True North Treks focuses on three powerful connections that are often missing from conventional cancer care:

• Connection with nature – after going through something as unnatural as cancer treatment.
• Connection with peers – others who have walked a similar path and truly understand.
• Connection with oneself – through mindful awareness practices like meditation and yoga.

This experience gave me space to heal, reflect, and connect in ways I didn’t know I needed. Now, I want to “pay it forward” so the next young adult survivor can attend without worrying about the cost. 

Because of True North Treks, I know the power of being seen, understood, and given space to heal.
